Dental Health Month at Best Friends and Our Vet

Dental Health Month at Best Friends and Our Vet
At Our Vet, we know that happy pets have healthy teeth & gums.
Even more than humans, dogs and cats need proper dental care. Unfortunately our 4 legged friends are unable to brush their teeth, this means that the responsibility for their dental care lies with their human companion.
How to maintain your pet's teeth and gum care
Fortunately, periodontal disease can be prevented, treated and even reversed if caught early.  With a bit of help from Our Vet, you can protect your pooch by taking one or more of the following simple steps:
  • Regular vet checks: Visit Our Vet for regular professional dental cleanings
  • Regular brushing: Brush teeth regularly using a toothpaste formulated for dogs (available at Best Friends)
  • Dental toys: Give your pet dental chew toys and treats regularly
  • Dental diets: Feed your pet a prescription diet formulated to fight periodontitis.
  • Get a free dental check at Our Vet during Dental Health Month from Tuesday 1st - Thursday 31 August, request an appointment online here
Other reasons to look after your pet’s teeth
Avoiding periodontitis isn’t the only reason to make sure your pet has a clean bill of dental health.  Regular cleaning can also prevent gingivitis (painful inflammation of the gums) and halitosis (bad breath), and has even been linked to a lower risk of heart disease.
Get your pet’s dental health checked at least every six months - Our Vet calls this Twice For Life. If you notice any of the above symptoms, make an appointment straight away, to get your best friend on the road to health.
